The original operating surgeon placing the nipples in the wrong position at the time of operation almost universally causes this particular breast surgery complication. It is relatively easy to correct nipples that are placed too low. But, when the nipples are placed too high, it is almost impossible to fully correct.
Frequently surgeons sometimes make the size of the areola complex too large during breast lifts and reductions. The areola can also stretch out years after surgery, requiring revision to make them smaller in diameter. In most cases these problems can also be easily corrected.
